What is Para Canoe Kayak?
Para Canoe races are contested in two types of disciplines, Kayak (k) and Va’a (V).
A two bladed paddle propels the kayak and a single bladed paddle propels Va’a.
A va’a is an outrigger canoe, which has an ama (pontoon) as a support float.
Both kayak and va’a have three different classes impairment, which is determined in a classification process. KL1, KL2, KL3 for kayak and VL1, VL2, VL3 for va’a.
