What is Para Athletics?

Para athletics, also known as track and field is the largest competition at the Paralympic Games. Events are available for individuals with physical disabilities (both wheelchair and standing), athletes with visual impairments and intellectual disabilities. Contested events are held in track racing, throwing, marathon and pentathlon. For more information about para athletics, go to the Paralympic Canada website.

Did you know that Para Athletics is one of the largest para sports in North American High Schools?  The Nova Scotia Sports Athletic Federation, NSSAF, supports students with a disability to compete for their high schools at track meets.  Students with a disability could include sitting or standing, visible or invisible

Getting equipment and proper coaching is a priority for students in need, and Athletics NS has a working group to provide solutions.
